The sugar draws the sweet juice out of the strawberries making a syrup. Then just add these to all the other ingredients. It I just like koolaid, just sugar to taste. The last was my fav as the lemonlime soda made it too sweet for me. All depends on taste. Since we made "buckets" as hubby said, lol, and stored at least 4qt in the refrig, the next day it wasn't bubbly and slushy but still wicked good. Love to add a squeeze of lime when making, upon serving, or on rim of glass so peeps can add their own. (for an, um, another taste, can use tonic water though I prefer tonic with NO gin and lots of lime!) Guess you could riff this into alcoholic summer smoothie cocktails. Endless possibilities. Wicked good.phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14651443175574844168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3949032279856610372.post-74042816358423886152012-05-14T18:58:26.312-07:002012-05-14T18:58:26.312-07:00this idea is similar to a Mexican favorite of mine...this idea is similar to a Mexican favorite of mine: fresh fruit paletas. Popsicles made of fresh frutas (fruits: strawberry, raspberry, canteloupe, watermelon, papaya.) Here in northern CA we mostly have paletas helados: creamy fruit/milk or coconut/milk combos which seem more like helado, ice cream. While we make fruit bars with all sorts of fresh fruits/juices, I know I'd love watermelon and berry. Just happen to have both on hand. If only I can find my popsicle molds. The good old Tupperware ones my mum used still work well. Off to make popsicles or at least ice cubes and a pitcher of this for the chiller. TY Nice alternative to fresh markets which sell agua frescas often with watermelon that are a bit sweet for me. Adjust sweetener and add citrus (lime for us) as your family/guests desire.
